Daimler launches stationary energy storage system with GETEC ENERGIE and The Mobility House
Hanover, 01.06.2015 - Powerful storage systems are an important component of a successful energy transition. GETEC ENERGIE AG (GETEC ENERGIE), a company of the GETEC GROUP, recently took up this challenge together with its partner The Mobility House.
The companies operate the first large-scale industrial storage system made from vehicle batteries for Daimler subsidiary ACCUmotive via the joint venture Coulomb GmbH in Kamenz, Saxony, and market its output on the German electricity exchange. Coulomb uses the lithium-ion storage system on the exchange as balancing energy to stabilize the grid and smooth out peak loads.
96 battery modules with a total capacity of more than 500 kWh are already connected to the grid, and further modules will gradually follow in the coming weeks. Further expansion is planned up to a total capacity of 3 MWh.
