Optimum management of old wind turbines
Hanover, 25.09.2018 - TÜV NORD and GEWI AG (GEWI) have concluded a cooperation agreement that enables the needs of operators of old wind turbines to be optimally addressed. After the expiry of the EEG-based subsidy, electricity from these plants can be optimally marketed via so-called Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
"In TÜV NORD, we have found the perfect partner to provide even better support to operators of old plants in ensuring that the possible continued operation of their plants is both economical and safe," explains Stefan Poehling, CEO of GEWI. According to Poehling, TÜV NORD will be responsible for the technical assessment and testing of the continued operation of the plants, while GEWI will take care of the simultaneous economic assessment of the feed-in. In addition to the analysis of the feed-in quantities, GEWI offers a complete package for the optimal marketing of the wind power generated from old plants. "In addition to the technical assessment of the wind turbines, with GEWI we can provide our customers with a competent marketing partner for the period after the EEG remuneration," says Christine Peeck, Head of Wind Site Assessment at TÜV NORD.
GEWI is one of Germany's largest direct marketers of renewable energies. GEWI also supports its customers in marketing energy from former wind turbines subsidized under the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). GEWI is a subsidiary of GETEC ENERGIE GmbH and is based in Hanover.
TÜV NORD supports operators of wind turbines in the assessment of possible continued operation beyond the original design life. As an independent expert and full-service provider in this interdisciplinary field, TÜV NORD covers both the analytical, theoretical part and the practical part. The continued operation analysis by TÜV NORD complies with the current principles of the BWE and the current DIBt Guideline 2012 of the German Institute for Building Technology.
