Even more sustainable delicatessen with wind power: Develey signs PPA with GETEC ENERGIE

Unterhaching/Hanover, 31.05.2021 - GETEC ENERGIE GmbH (GETEC ENERGIE) will supply Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH with green electricity from German wind farms that are no longer subsidized as part of a direct power supply agreement (PPA) from 01.01.2022, covering a large part of the delicatessen company's energy consumption.

Develey, a company known for its mustard and other delicatessen products, is already a pioneer when it comes to sustainability. With the support of GETEC ENERGIE, the winner of the German Sustainability Award 2020 is now expanding its climate protection activities even further. As part of a PPA, the energy service provider from Hanover will supply the Bavarian medium-sized company with green electricity from several German wind farms that are no longer subsidized from 2022. The purchase of electricity from so-called EEG 20Plus plants is sustainable in several respects. On the one hand, electricity generated using wind power as a non-fossil energy source is climate-friendly per se. On the other hand, the purchase of energy generated by older wind turbines that are no longer subsidized also means that these turbines can continue to operate economically. This avoids the need to dismantle wind turbines that are still efficient. "Climate neutrality is definitely not a new topic for us. We have been working intensively and successfully since 2008 to produce our products as sustainably as possible," explains Maurizio Castellano, Head of Energy & Environment at Develey Senf & Feinkost GmbH. "The purchase of wind power with the help of direct power supply contracts from GETEC ENERGIE fits perfectly into our sustainability concept," continues Castellano. "We have been supporting our customers for a long time in realizing their wishes for a sustainable energy supply. Purchasing green electricity with the help of PPAs has the great advantage that it is clear which wind farm the electricity comes from. This creates transparency and enables direct support for plants that are no longer subsidized," explains Cord Wiesner, Managing Director of GETEC ENERGIE. "We are currently seeing strong demand for PPAs and expect this trend to continue," Wiesner continues.
