Early contract extension: Marc Wiederhold will remain Managing Director of our subsidiary EEG until 2029
Our subsidiary EEG Energie- Einkaufs- und Service GmbH (EEG) is focusing on continuity in management: the contract of Managing Director Marc Wiederhold has been extended ahead of schedule until summer 2029. This means that the long-standing sole Managing Director will remain on board in the coming years – a clear signal of stability and strategic development.
“We love municipal utilities – just like a well-known supermarket chain loves groceries,” says Wiederhold with a wink. And it is precisely this passion for municipal utilities that has characterized his work since 2018. In this time, EEG has developed from a loss-making company to a profitable service provider with an EBT of €2.7 million in 2024.
The contract extension is part of the long-term Strategy 2030, with which EEG is positioning itself more broadly and for the future. The management team was already expanded at the start of the year: Matthias Ewert, previously an authorized signatory, was appointed second Managing Director. Dr. Stefan Lewandowski was added as an authorized signatory, while Stefan Dahl has held this role since summer 2022.
A strong partner in turbulent times
The challenges for municipal utilities are enormous: increasing pressure to transform, regulatory requirements, volatile markets and a growing need for investment. At the same time, the political will to consolidate the market is increasing – with the aim of significantly reducing the number of suppliers and network operators.
“Small and medium-sized municipal utilities are feeling the effects of this development particularly keenly,” says Wiederhold. “EEG sees itself as a sparring partner from the field – with concrete solutions and many years of experience.”
With its many years of experience in the areas of energy procurement, balancing group management and energy data management, EEG offers all municipal utilities an established yet customizable range of services. Whether Redispatch 2.0, dynamic electricity tariffs, EU-ETS II or BEHG – EEG is constantly developing its range of services as required in order to support its customers in efficiently implementing new requirements while remaining cost-effective. Through economies of scale and specialized services, the company creates cost reductions and efficiency gains in all key areas – and thus ensures that municipal utilities are better off with EEG than on their own.
