Sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) have long played an important role at our company. Our commitment in these areas has now been awarded the silver medal by EcoVadis for the second time in a row. Ratings such as the EcoVadis assessment help create transparency about the environmental and social aspects of a company's economic activities. However, the internal impact is also very important: Where do we stand on the relevant KPIs relating to the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement? Who or what is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis is one of the world's largest providers of corporate sustainability ratings. The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards and frameworks. A team of analysts assesses how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability and CSR into its business and management systems. The EcoVadis assessment takes place on the basis of an industry-specific classification and therefore offers the opportunity to compare with competitors using industry-specific indicators.
Our EcoVadis rating: Overall result
The EcoVadis assessment covers a wide range of criteria from the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. GETEC ENERGIE achieved the gold medal with 74 out of 100 points, making it one of the top 5 percent of companies from the energy industry rated by EcoVadis. We scored particularly well in the areas of the environment and labor and human rights with our wide range of measures. We also scored above average in the ethics category. This year, we achieved a significant improvement in the area of sustainable procurement.
Our EcoVadis rating: Environment category
In the particularly heavily weighted environmental area, EcoVadis evaluates all policies, measures and results in the categories of energy consumption and greenhouse gases, water, biodiversity, local and accidental pollution, raw materials, chemicals and waste. Our efforts in relation to our detailed environmental policy, supporting our customers in their sustainable energy procurement, the conversion of our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles, our ISO-certified environmental management system and our measures to mitigate negative impacts on the environment or animals were particularly positively highlighted. In addition, we have carried out an energy and CO2 audit to assess our energy consumption and CO2 emissions and identify potential savings.
Our EcoVadis rating: Labor and human rights category
The labor and human rights category is also weighted particularly heavily by EcoVadis. Here, all policies, measures, and results in the areas of employee health and safety, working conditions, social dialogue, career management and training, child and forced labor, human trafficking, diversity, discrimination and harassment, and human rights of external stakeholders are examined. GETEC ENERGIE performed particularly well in this area. In its assessment, EcoVadis particularly highlighted our measures in the areas of employee health and safety, anti-discrimination, special payments and leave for all employees.
Our EcoVadis rating: Ethics category
We also received an above-average rating in the area of ethics. We were able to convince the auditors with our policies and measures relating to compliance, anti-corruption, data protection, information security and our whistleblowing procedures, which have been tried and tested for many years. EcoVadis evaluates all policies, measures and results in the categories of corruption, anti-competitive practices and responsible information management in the ethics category.
Our EcoVadis rating: Sustainable procurement category
In the area of sustainable procurement, EcoVadis evaluates all guidelines, measures and results with regard to suppliers' environmental and social practices. In particular, our sustainable procurement policy was rated positively. As a pure service company, GETEC ENERGIE attaches great importance to the sustainable procurement of daily office supplies. In addition, GETEC ENERGIE applies a CSR code of conduct for suppliers, which includes regular supplier evaluations with analyses of the companies' environmental and social practices.
