ENERGY SUPPLY FOR DATA CENTERS

Data centers are among the fastest growing energy consumers, driven by digitization, cloud services, AI applications and increasing data volumes. At the same time, the requirements for security of supply, energy efficiency and sustainability are constantly increasing. Operators therefore need a partner who can not only reliably supply large amounts of energy, but also understands regulatory requirements and technical specifications. A partner that offers a stable and plannable energy supply that works reliably even during peak loads.

We look forward to working with you.

ENERGY PROCUREMENT AND SECURITY OF SUPPLY

We offer data center operators tailor-made procurement models – from full supply via commercial framework agreements to energy procurement from renewable sources in our portfolio management. Our solutions are designed for high availability and scalability. Thanks to our many years of experience in balancing group management and direct access to all relevant energy markets, we can also reliably map complex requirements.

DECARBONIZATION AND LOW-CARBON ENERGY SOLUTIONS

Many data center operators are working on reducing the CO₂ emissions of their facilities. Since 2024, at least 50% of the electricity used to operate data centers in Germany must come from renewable sources. From 2027, a share of 100% will be mandatory. The procurement of lower-emission energy plays a key role in this. We support you in the integration of electricity from renewable sources, for example via PPAs and guarantees of origin, or biomethane. The combination with in-house generation (e.g. PV, CHP) and the use of flexibility to optimize grid charges are also part of our offering. Together with you, we develop an energy concept that combines maximum security of supply with cost-effectiveness and options to help reduce your emissions.

FINDING THE RIGHT MIX: ENERGY FROM RENEWABLE AND CONVENTIONAL SOURCES

We provide targeted support to data center operators in procuring electricity and gas according to their individual needs – from both renewable and conventional sources. We work with you to analyze your current situation and decarbonization goals and develop a roadmap based on your specifications. This may include, for example, electricity or gas products from renewable sources – such as additional guarantees of origin (HKN) or power purchase agreements (PPA) – and/or the procurement of biomethane. In some cases, biomethane can offer a reduction in carbon emissions and partially or completely replace fossil natural gas.

Combining planning security and flexibility: let’s define your procurement strategy together

Commercial energy consumers often seek procurement models that are ideal for maintaining the balance between planning security and flexibility, on the one hand, and  decarbonisation goals and market-driven prices, on the other hand. GETEC ENERGIE supports its customers with flexible procurement models offering planning security and flexibility by combining long-term products and short-term market opportunities. Depending on your individual situation, this could mean, for example, procuring a certain percentage of your power need on the futures market, another part via a PPA and remaining smaller amounts on the short-term spot market. This can be an important factor for successfully shaping a company’s energy costs.

OUR CUSTOMER PORTAL: KEEP AN OVERVIEW OF YOUR ENERGY

Would you like to keep an eye on your energy data at all times, manage contracts and bills easily and make processes more efficient? Then our customer portal is just right for you: with the GETEC ENERGIE customer portal, you have round-the-clock access to all relevant information. Transparent, secure and intuitive to use. This saves you time, reduces administrative work and allows you to keep track of your energy supply at all times.

Our services at a glance

Most of the energy which GETEC ENERGIE sells to its commercial and industrial customers is derived from conventional sources. We also offer our customers a range of lower-carbon products. You can find details of our services here:
