innovative GETEC
Away from day-to-day business, at GETEC ENERGIE we are engaged in innovative solutions for current and future challenges in the energy industry. In order to avoid being restricted by existing structures, we are also breaking new ground in work organization with our GETEC lab. Our goal is to discover new things for our customers and our organization, off the beaten track.

The GETEC lab
GETEC lab implements innovative products and business ideas in an agile manner outside the traditional GETEC ENERGIE corporate structures. In the energy industry, which is increasingly characterized by digitalization, the interaction between the conventional and digital energy worlds is very important. GETEC lab acts as a bridge-builder between the two worlds and aims not only to master the challenges of digitization, but also to help shape them. All ideas generated at GETEC lab are aimed at developing new, mainly digital solutions and business ideas for GETEC ENERGIE, its associated companies and its customers within an agile framework. GETEC lab supports the aforementioned players in the development and implementation of digital strategies and projects.

New work@GETEC
The GETEC lab is located in a separate area of the GETEC ENERGIE premises, which can be seen and experienced by all colleagues at all times. New ideas can thus be discussed and further developed in a short space of time. GETEC lab is convinced that the future of energy trading will be characterized by networking via digital interfaces and processes. In order to achieve sustainable and acceptable results in this context, GETEC lab is made up of technology experts in the field of energy and digitization. All GETEC lab members work together on an equal footing, innovative and independently.
The ETIBLOGG project
In 2017, a new chapter in GETEC ENERGIE began with the ETIBLOGG research and innovation project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics. ETIBLOGG is dedicated to the development of near-real-time energy trading of small quantities of energy using blockchain technology. Apart from the purely technical achievements, ETIBLOGG is the first project at GETEC ENERGIE that did not originate from daily business but from the drive to question, test and try out new technologies and their application at GETEC ENERGIE and its customers. More about the ETIBLOGG project can be found here.

Cooperation with universities
The blockchain topic is developing from a pure buzzword to a sustainable trend in the energy industry. However, the challenge remains to develop practicable solutions and sustainable business models. Against this background, GETEC ENERGIE and GETEC net are cooperating with students of computer science at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) Münster. As part of a project seminar of the "Safety Critical Systems" working group of Prof. Dr. Anne Remke at the Institute of Computer Science at the WWU, students are developing a prototype. This "Smart Meter Gateway" block chain prototype should pave the way for new decentralized business models. The goal of the project is to develop a connection of the "Smart Meter Gateway" to the blockchain, which will allow measured meter data to be integrated into the blockchain.
